Cindy Hossain

Hi. My name is Cindy Hossain and I currently live in Manchester (UK) although I was born and bred in South Africa. I am a busy mum of three human babies and two fur babies, who I love spending time with in my free time.

Question 1: How have your past experiences influenced you as a writer?

Absolutely. Writing for me is a form of escapism and I often find it helpful to write in order to process something that has happened.

Question 2: What is your writing process like? Are you more of a plotter or a pantser?

I tend to write spontaneously, with very little planning. This way the characters always manage to surprise me and keep me guessing to what will happen next.

Question 3: What is your kryptonite as a writer?

Self-doubt.

Question 4: Do you play music while you write — and, if so, what’s your favorite?

No - I have a one track mind, and will just sing along instead of writing!

Question 5: What is the most valuable piece of advice you’ve been given about writing?

Just do it for yourself. You have to love the piece first, before it is ready to be shown to the world.

Question 6: What do you think is the best way to improve writing skills?

Practice and then some more practice.

Question 7: Is there a piece of writing that you are the most proud of?

Yes. A little published poem that I dedicated to my angel baby, whom I sadly lost during a ruptured ectopic pregnancy.
