Welcome to Livina Press

Winter was always a magical time for me growing up. All of the lights and the cold weather, and people being cheerier than they were earlier in the year. The heat of the summer is gone, the smell of fall is replaced with fresh, cold mornings, and the world stands on the cusp of something exciting with the impending new year.

This year, the theme “Fairytales, Myths, and Legends” felt like a perfect fit for the winter issue. After all, some of the earliest memories I have of winter is decorating for Christmas and leaving milk and cookies out for St. Nick. What better time to explore the magical and the mythical than when the most wonderful time of the year comes to visit for a short while? (PDF ONLY)

The long hours of daylight have come and gone, and now the leaves are changing along with the temperature. The hot summer days are transitioning to long, cozy fall nights and soon winter will be right around the corner. But before we can get to that and all of the holiday cheer it brings, I’ve always enjoyed curling up in a chair near the window as the colorful leaves dance in the wind while I read my favorite stories. This year, I get the pleasure of rereading the works on these pages.

This fall issue captures the feeling of autumn and the emotions that come along with it. Inside is a collection of works that inspire, haunt, and pull at your heart strings. (PDF ONLY)

With so much hate, violence, death, and destruction in the world, I wanted to give others an outlet to express their thoughts and feelings while also supporting a very important cause. The use of “Homeland” for this issue is multifaceted. It can be a reflection on belonging or the feeling of when “home” is taken away. It can also be used to express the frustration and feeling of betrayal from others within your homeland.

Inside this issue you will find works from people from across the world sharing their personal experiences, thoughts, and laying their emotions bare. Everyone has their own take on “homeland” and what it means to them–a person, a place, a feeling. It is an honor to share it all with you.

Summer has always been a favorite time for me, not only because of my birthday, but because summer always felt like a different world from the monotony of school life. When school was over, it always felt like the possibilities were endless–bon fires, sleepovers, sports, late night movie marathons...anything and everything my child mind could think of. As I’ve gotten older, the love for summer has remained, even if the all-nighters I once pulled are a thing of the past.

This issue reminds me of those summer nights. From distant lands to nostalgia to reminiscing on past experiences, this summer issue will bring you on many different journeys. (PDF ONLY)

The second ever special issue of Livina Press makes its debut for International Women’s Day, 2025. Ever since the first special issue (Fight for Reproductive Rights, published in 2022), I’ve wanted to revisit an issue that amplified stories about women. Inside these pages, there are many different voices and stories about women and their impact on others and their experiences.

All proceeds for this issue will go to Women for Women International, a non-profit that provides support for female survivors of war. (PDF ONLY)

With spring comes warmer temperatures and spring showers (though thankfully it’s not hurricane season yet here in the southern U.S.). Every year I eagerly await the spring issue to see what kind of work emerges from the clutches of winter. I can always see a change in the tone of the submissions, and I’m always amazed at just how much of an impact the changing seasons can bring on everyone’s writing.

This year is no different, and within the pages of Issue 12 you’ll find magic, mystery, heartache, and everything in between. (PDF ONLY)

The new year has begun and with it, comes a new issue filled with the last works submitted for 2024. Last year held a lot of things, like the first ever Livina Press writing contest, a new spooky publishing venture (Midnight Ink), and a new website! However, I cannot wait to see what 2025 has in store for this little magazine.

This issue holds so much that people hold dear, complete with new worlds, memories long past, and the feeling of nostalgia. Within these pages are whole new stories and lives waiting for you to discover them. (PDF ONLY)

As the seasons change and the heat of summer gives way to the cool, crisp autumn air, I often find myself reflecting on fond memories. Memories as a child and running through my mother’s recently raked pile of leaves, at the city fair, and, of course, memories with friends and family.

The theme for Issue 10 is “Golden.” Just the word alone reminds me of being twelve and reading “The Outsiders” by S. E. Hinton which introduced me to Robert Frost’s “Nothing Gold Can Stay” for the first time. For me, “Golden” invokes feelings of nostalgia a memories. All of the works within these pages have their own take on what “Golden” means to them. What does it mean for you? (PDF ONLY)

With two years of publishing behind us, Livina Press is happy to share that the winners of our first ever writing contest are debuting in this issue! With every issue, I am blown away by the amount of talent and creativity that I get to share, and this issue is no different.

Issue 9 carries the feeling of summer days and loss and heartbreak, but optimism and the belief that things will always get better. This issue will carry you into different lives and different worlds, and I cannot wait to share it with you. (PDF ONLY)
