Maria Nobile
Hi everyone! My name is Maria Nobile. I am originallly from New York City but now I live in sunny Mexico City. In my spare time, I love traveling, listening to music, dancing and enjoying time with my friends.
Question 1: What inspired you to start writing?
I started writing poetry because I joined Kamp Kilmer, an artists' group created by Val Kilmer to promote and encourage future artists.
Question 2: How have your past experiences influenced you as a writer?
Since my youth, I have always been interested in writing. I am an avid reader and so I have been enthralled with all types of literary genres. Poetry is my favorite, of course! In addition, I wrote a children's book in college. It was a fun and beautiful experience. I hope to repeat it in the future!
Question 3: What have you written that you're the most proud of?
I love anything I write about my family!!

Question 4: What do the words “writer’s block” mean to you?
Writer's block is a serious issue for me. I try to seek my inspiration from nature, art, and especially music.
Question 5: When did you first call yourself a writer?
After various publications, I can consider myself a poet. However, I feel I have more to learn and I am willing to take those extra steps to get where I need to be. As an educator by trade, I believe that learning is a life long process. I am eager to learn more!
Question 6: What is your writing process like? Are you more of a plotter or a pantser?
I am both a plotter and a pantser! Lol! I usually have a topic in mind or I get inspired by music and start writing whatever comes to my mind. I never know the ending of my poems because I let my inspiration/muses guide me.
Question 7: If you could spend a day with another popular author, whom would you choose?
I would definitely love to spend a day with Diana Gabaldon, the novelist who writes the Outlander books. Her writing style is so unique and her storylines are so rich.
Question 8: What is your kryptonite as a writer?
My kryptonite as a writer has yet to be discovered but I would rather write about love over mundane topics. Wouldn't anyone?
Question 9: Do you play music while you write — and, if so, what’s your favorite?
I love listening to music when I am writing. I have eclectic tastes ranging from Bowie to 80's rock. The titles of my poems are often inspired by the songs I listen to!!
Question 10: What is the most valuable piece of advice you’ve been given about writing?
Write what moves you and inspires you! Revise and edit as many times as you need too. Your final version will be a work of love!
